Dreamfall Chapters

On the 1st of March, 2007 Funcom announced that they had received funding from the Norwegian Film Fund (who partly funded the production of Dreamfall) to partially finance research and initial development for the episodic Dreamfall Chapters, a continuation of DF's story. Funcom has decided to use this money to establish a core technology research team that will investigate online-only delivery methods of episodic content, mostly in an attempt to circumvent illegal copying and distribution.

Although the game will initially only be available online a retail version may be released at a later date, although nothing has been promised at this point. This move has proved quite controversial in the TLJ community as some fans do not have access to the required credit card, are reluctant to provide credit details over the internet, or simply feel distrusted by Funcom. There has also been some issue with DF Chapters' status as "online only" being confused with the rumoured TLJ MMO.

Where exactly DF Chapters fits in the scheme of the TLJ "saga" remains to be seen, with some pundits considering it the third part of a TLJ trilogy, while others merely see it as the conclusion of the second part.
